Think Like A Tycoon How To Make A Million In Less Than 3 Years

“…Don’t be a consumer. If your mind is always focused on how to blow the next few hundred dollars, you’ll never accumulate the capital you need to be successful.” —W.G. Hill

Being in business for yourself is not for everyone, and there are many small business people who never get rich. There are a number of reasons why this is the case, but one of the most important ones is that people go into the wrong business in the first place. It’s often said that most tycoons make their money in finance, and real estate. Think Like a Tycoon is largely about investing in real estate. I want you to view your online business as digital real estate.

Another barrier to personal wealth creation is a psychological one — many of us would like to go into business, but we haven’t gathered the inner strength to do so. This is why self-help books are useful, even if they seem a little corny at times. To have the courage to take the first steps can take some encouragement. When I left my job to start my own business, the Director of my department first asked me a question, and second left me with a comment.

The question was, “Is there anything I can do to change your mind? If it’s monetary or other item relating to your position here, we can talk about it.” My answer was, “No, it’s not that. My dream is to control my own financial freedom through an online business. My ability to reasonably sustain myself through my internet business has come to fruition and I’m ready to take the leap.”

His comment was, “I wish I had the courage you have at your age. I wish you success and the best of luck.”

That day, I left his office and never looked back.

Back to my point, to come up with the courage, sometimes you need a coach or a mentor to encourage you with the right counsel and pep talk. When you don’t have a coach, the right self-help book can help you remove your mental block(s) and gain access to your inner inspiration to succeed.

Many people around you will try to convince you that your dreams cannot be done, you can’t get rich, or that making money is boring or immoral.

Below is W.G. Hill’s “Tycoon’s Credo”:

“A Tycoon is:

  1. Organized. I will schedule a written program of my activities and objectives and stick to it the entire day.
  2. Dedicated. I will do at least one thing I should have done, but have been putting off.
  3. Confident. I will feel as good as possible and achieve a sense of well-being by meditating 15 minutes every day. I will exercise or job another 15 minutes.
  4. Appreciative. I will tell my family, friends, and business associates “I like you” and mean it. I will be generous with praise and compliments.
  5. Optimistic. I will not dwell on past failures but will think positively about the present and the future.
  6. Educated. I will read something to improve my mind each day, and will keep away from non-productive and time-consuming people and activities.
  7. Thrifty. I will not be a consumer or a taxpayer any more than is absolutely necessary.
  8. Sociable. I will be charming and agreeable to everyone and speak badly of no one.
  9. Alert. I will be open to new ideas, experiences, and people who might teach me something new, and I will not let myself fall into a rut or routine.
  10. Dependable. I will meet all business, social, and moral obligations punctually, honestly, and honorably.”
